WHAT'S UP??

Not much new is going on around here. Jake has Daddy Duty while I've been at work and there's only 5 more days until summer!! Ethan is doing really well - he's a pretty happy baby most of the time. We put together his exersaucer over the weekend and he seems to like it a lot - his feet don't touch the bottom yet but they will soon enough! :)

Baby Ava - isn't she beautiful?!

We had a busy few days! First of all, our neice, Ava Marie Gobar, was born on Saturday!! She was 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches long. We all got to see her at the hospital - very exciting. Welcome Baby Ava!!

Jake's sister Lauren was in town from Virginia. This was the first time she got to meet Ethan - he sure did love his Aunt Lulu. We'll miss you Lauren - can't wait to see you again!

We spent a lot of time in Grandma and Grandpa's beautiful backyard eating, drinking, roasting marshmallows, and just hanging out. It was nice to have a long relaxing weekend after such a hectic first week back at work. Only 2 more weeks until summer vacation! :)

Wordless Wednesday

Back to the Grind

I went back to work today after being off for 9 weeks. It was very hard leaving my baby this morning but I was ok once I got to work. My students were so good and it made it a lot easier. It was actually nice being back. I felt like I had a life outside of being a Mommy. Getting dressed up was fun. I mean, wearing my glasses, hair in a nasty bun, and sweat pants with spit-up stains is swell but today I got to put on my big girl clothes again. :) And they fit-BONUS!

Jake is in North Carolina this week on business so it's double hard. We're both missing our little man during the day. I could never be a single parent, that's for sure. Jake is such a good Daddy and a wonderful husband-we both miss him a lot.

James Taylor

So Jake and I are pretty much obsessed with James Taylor. We realized that when we first started dating and ever since, we've dreamed of seeing him in concert. Well, he FINALLY came to Houston on tour and we got to see him on Saturday night. The concert was amazing! He played at the Verizon Theatre which is a really small venue-we had awesome seats.

We found out that this song was written as a lullaby for his newborn nephew who was named after him. So it's neat that we use it as a lullaby for our sweet baby too.

What an amazing concert! I'm so glad we got to see him. :)

Milestones!

Two recent developments with Mr. Ethan:

1. He rolled over for the first time! It happened a few times in his crib over the weekend but neither Jake or I saw it - we had stepped out of the room for something. But last night he rolled over like 5 times in a row and we were both there. So exciting!

2. He slept through the night for the first time last night!!!! Mommy was thrilled! Let's hope it wasn't just a fluke - but he slept for 6 hours straight Sunday night and 7.5 last night so maybe we're on a roll!!

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful first Mother's Day! Jake took the morning feeding and let me sleep in. Then, he and Ethan surprised me with breakfast in bed. I also got a gift certificate for a spa day! I am truly blessed with an amazing husband. AND, my gifted son "wrote" me the funniest poem - I think Daddy helped a little. :)


We also got to spend time with my parents and Jake's parents - it was a great day thanks to the two men in my life!

Faith and Ethan

My friend Alicia from work came over today with her baby girl Faith. What a cutie! So of course we definitely had to do a photo shoot of the babies. Faith was born a few weeks after Ethan. Here are some pics.

2 Months!

Ethan will officially be 2 months old on Mother's Day, but we went for his 2-month check-up at the pediatrician yesterday. Poor Ethan got 3 shots in his legs - he took it like a champ and didn't scream for too long. But the rest of the afternoon was rough - he slept for most of the day and then screamed and cried for a loooooong time when he woke up. It was so sad to see him so upset and I wasn't able to do much for him except give him some baby Tylenol. Luckily my Mom (Nonnie) came over to help out since Daddy was in Dallas for business. We gave him a bath and he finally calmed down and slept really well!

11 pounds, 8 ounces and 23 inches long. What a big boy!!

Meet Fanny

This is Fanny. Fanny is Ethan's BEST friend! He could spend his entire day staring up at Fanny. Forget Mommy and Daddy...Fanny's the one for him. Fanny never fails to get a smile out of him and plenty of kicks and squeals of delight. No matter how upset Ethan is, we can always lay him on our bed and let him stare up at Fanny and he will calm down. It's so funny! Here are a few pics from this morning.
