Ethan's First Astros Game

We took Ethan to his first of many Astros games last weekend. He did so good! He loved looking at all the people and flirting with the girls in the seats behind us.

In other news, I started back to school on Monday. It's really hard leaving Ethan but my school is so close and my kids are all pretty good for the most part. I'm ready to get into a routine so things can calm down a little.
Ethan is doing really well - he's almost 6 months old and about ready to start baby food - yay!

5 Months!

Ethan is 5 months old already! I can't believe my baby boy is growing up so fast. We went to the doctor today for his 6-month checkup (a little early since I was trying to fit it in before I go back to work). He got another round of shots and was a bit fussy for the rest of the day. He weighs 16 pounds (50th%) and is 28 inches (90th%!!!!!!!)

Our little man is also now officially a thumb-sucker. At first I was nervous because I know I'll have to break him of that habit eventually but it's nice now because he can soothe himself for naps and at bedtime.

Here I am after I got my shots. :(

Yep, that's right. I suck my thumb now.

I am a Teacher Nerd

If you are a math teacher, then you probably know who Marcy Cook is. Anyway, I went to a math conference a few weeks ago and she was there presenting! And she agreed to take a picture with us - we were so excited! I tried to explain to Jake when I got home just how exciting this was but he just doesn't get it. "Babe, it's Marcy Cook, I said"!!!!! But I got nothin'. So I guess I'm just a teacher nerd.

Mommy's Been Busy!

Wow - haven't blogged in a while! Let's see...Ethan is about 4 1/2 months now and seems to be able to do more and more each day. He's been grasping objects better and likes to touch everything, most of it ending up in his mouth! He is getting really close to flipping over to his tummy from his back too. He's mastered rice cereal and I can't wait to start him on more solids - but we need the OK from his pediatrician first - so just a little while longer. Our little man is growing so fast!

I've been busy up at school getting my room ready and preparing for another year. I have mixed feelings about all this - I'm super excited to be opening up a brand new school but also nervous about being a mommy AND teacher. Hope I can do it!

I also celebrated my 28th birthday a few weeks ago at a really fun hibachi grill with friends.
Here are a few recent pics:

4 Months

Ethan is 4 months old today! Nothing new and exciting is going on - I'm just really enjoying my summer with him and getting depressed that it's almost over.

Ethan's new favorite thing to do is roll over to his back while he's sleeping - then it wakes him up and he CRIES and can't get back to sleep. So Mommy has to climb the stairs 3+ times a night to roll him back. Super fun! It's like he's a newborn again with all this nighttime waking. I guess I'm just going to have to let him cry until he learns to sleep on his back.

Here are some recent pics of my sweet little chunky man:

He LOVES bathtime!

Swinging!

One morning when I went to get him - such a sweet little guy in his jammies!

Here is Ethan with his buddy Sam - they are 3 days apart!

What cuties!
